Musical Form
How can you construct music into memorable and satisfying natural structures?
In modern composing, we have the freedom to go wherever we want. But if we know “form”, we can know that our structures will invite better comprehension.
Even in the most atonal and abstract of underlying material, if you wrap it into a formal structure, it becomes comprehendible.
Like chapters in a book ... the words can be esoteric. But if it's structured, it gives the listener the ability to contextualize and digest the information relative to the other information.
Organization helps define and delineate the ideas no matter how complex, nondescript, sound design, or musical the underlying material.
Learn the structural formats that will allow your music to transcend function and be in demand as concert works and as higher art.
